Foshan (佛山), formerly romanised as Fatshan, is a prefecture-level city in the Guangdong Province of south-eastern China. The prefecture covers 3,848.49 Square kilometer with a population of around 7.2 million people. Along with Guangzhou and Shenzhen, Foshan forms a part of the Pearl River Delta Economic Zone.

Foshan is often regarded as the home of the Cantonese versions of Chinese opera, Kung Fu, and the famous Chinese Lion Dance.

Climate

Foshan has a subtropical marine monsoon climate, specifically, it is warm and rainy. The rainy season is from April until September, with varying temperatures between October to March.

Sanshui Lotus World

The Lotus World, found in the Sanshui District, is the largest lotus theme park in the world, featuring 300 diversified species of lotuses. Famed for housing a lotus cultivated in space and an ancient lotus unearthed in the Liaoning Province, Lotus World visitors can enjoy a feast at the Lotus Food Village.

Shunfengshan Park

At the foot of Taiping Mountain is Shunfengshan Park. Built between 1999 and 2002, Shunfengshan Park is home to China’s No.1 Paifang, an enormous Chinese arch. Visitors are welcome to rent a bicycle or walk through the park and enjoy nature in the Guangdong province.

Qing Hui Yuan

Qing Hui Yuan, or the Garden of Pure Splendor, is one of the Four Great Garden of Guangdong. Located in the Shunde District, visitors shouldn’t forget to try some Shunde cuisine while enjoying the sights of Foshan! Famous for their extremely fresh ingredients and attention to detail, Shunde cuisine is a staple in Cantonese culture.

XiQiao National Arts Studio

Officially opened in 2015, XiQiao National Arts Studio houses replications of some of the world’s most recognizable buildings and structures. Kowloon Walled City, Hong Kong Old Street, Guangzhou Old Street, The Palace, Shanghai Old Street can be found among others. XiQiao is ever growing, with plans to see add an amusement park and recreation center so visitors can take part in some of China’s most important historical events. Planning a wedding?
