Transportation

Airport

Huizhou is serviced by three airports due to its proximity to Shenzhen and Hong Kong. The Huizhou Pingtan Airport is roughly 20km from the city center while the Shenzhen Bao’an International Airport can be reached by bus in 1.5 hours.

Railway

The city has three train stations, Huizhou Station, Huizhou West station and Huizhou South Station which provide access throughout the city. These stations link Huizhou with many cities around China such as Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Shantou, Fuzhou, Xiamen, Nanchang, Changsha, Yueyang and many others. There are even plans to link Huizhou and Shenzhen by a high-speed underground train which will provide the city with an effective link to downtown Hong Kong.

Bus

Huizhou has a clean and affordable bus system with links throughout the city. Most bus trips have a flat fee of 2RMB or even less if you use a ‘Lingnantong’ transport card. More than ten scheduled buses run to Hong Kong every day and since almost all the cities and towns are linked by highways, long distance busing is a reality.

Food

Huizhou has a hefty selection of food on offer. Traditional Chinese food can be sampled at most corners with Hong Kong/Canton cuisine being popular with the locals. Huizhou food itself makes use of a rich group of ingredients from the mountains and streams such as bamboo shoots, mushrooms, Jue Cai (bracken), Guanghua cai (daylily) and a multitude of other items. There are more than 1470 sorts of plants on the Huangshan Mountain, many suitable for eating. Locals generally steam or stew ingredients to keep their notable flavour and freshness.

To taste genuine Huizhou cuisine, the various Yellow Mountain restaurants are the only places to go. Select any restaurant they have on offer and enjoy Huizhou cuisine characterized by environmentally-friendly thought.
